Oftentimes we worry...we worry about things we cannot change, things we can change yet aren't sure how to, what others think or don't think about us, things that are far beyond our control...will I get sick, will I have enough money? Okay, you get the picture...it's really fill in the blank as to the things we worry about. Trust me... I'm prone to being a worrier ( yup, even when I was a little kid ) and yet I know deep down God is up in heaven like... "SERIOUSLY!?!?!" When I'm worried many times I feel God nudge my heart and remind me of a few things.
He will never leave nor forsake you!
Deuteronomy 31:6 -" Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you."
Hebrews 13:5b - "Never will I leave you; Never will I forsake you."
2. God is the One who sustains us.
Isaiah 46:4 -"Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. Have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and will rescue you."
3. God Knows the End from the Beginning.
He sees the big picture. Its like the example we give to our Sunday School class of life being like a huge pointillism painting...we are nose to canvas close, all the while God sees it in its entirety...He is the artist.
Isaiah 46:9-10 - " Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I made known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand and I will do all that I please."
Hebrews 13:6 - " So we say with confidence , 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
In our worry...and when things seem out of control God is constant.
Hebrews 13:8 - " Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever."
4. Jesus said - " DO NOT WORRY."
Matthew 6:25-34 contains a massive amount of red letters, where Jesus is telling us... "DO NOT WORRY..." He said it...Hello.... "Each day has it's own worries." Now I'm pretty sure the God who created me, who knows the number of hair on my head, is big enough to handle my greatest fears and worries...and the only thing is He is lovingly waiting for us to just cast our cares on HIM!
Funny thing...when we fully surrender our worries to Christ (because He is more than able to handle them) His peace rests on us like no other peace...and burdens are lifted. (My yoke is easy and My burdens are light) and really it's because He is the one who carries all our cares and perfects everything that concerns us.
So Worry, What Is It Good For...? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
