The Guts & Glory of Gratitude

With Thanksgiving a little over a week away and with our previous The Gift of Gratitude post from the beginning of this month… let’s recap and see where we are at!

First, remember this one….

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Next, let me let you in on a secret… it’s no secret, that when your goal is to be even more aware of…and thankful for all the blessings that surround you…it becomes an all out war to remain in this state! Mind, body, spirit…WAR…exaggeration maybe a little…but…anyone else find this to be true?

To make a very log story short, this weekend into today went about .0005% of the way it was planned and honestly it’s been quite non stop since getting back from our trip in October…. we knew it would be this way - hit the ground running and don’t stop until 2022- but boy when you’re in it…. 😳😂 I could just feel myself out of sorts, tired, frustrated… I honestly feel like I had much less of a right than my Siblings to feel like this, yet here I was… then today on my - what felt like - 100th doggie walk of the day I looked up and saw the deep blue gray of the sky blending so beautifully with the sun kissed vibrant orange of the trees… I took in a deep breath of the cool crisp air and whispered a “thank you God…for the masterfulness of Your handiwork…” I was standing in the middle of a painting. It was positively stunning and not even a photo could do it justice! (Although, I did try).

Guys choosing to have a grateful heart, even when things are going awry…takes guts!!!

To be fully aware that your annoyed, frustrated, tired, and failing at being thankful, definitely not praying continually unless you count all of the “God…seriously…really another thing…” 🙄 moments.

Yet, being able to take a breath and say… “God I need your Grace”….that is when the glory part happens! God is given greater glory because really… I can’t/we can’t do even the little bits of life without Him!

So Fam as we continue to practice putting gratitude at the forefront of our lives let’s always remember…no matter how hard we try we really can’t do it without Jesus!

Have a great week and remember to give yourself a little bit of extra grace!
