One Person at a Time

Mother Teresa said, ‘Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest you.’

Do you ever find yourself exasperated by the need and lack found in the world today? Of the injustice that occurs? It’s easy to go down the rabbit hole of seeing struggle in the world and start to feel overwhelmed...sad and defeated. Almost as if nothing will ever change and no one will be impacted for the better. Yet, in those moments there needs to be a pause. Ask yourself...who is near me? In my very circle, who needs help right now? Again, it‘s so easy to get caught up in the news cycle of crisis and catastrophe and feel like “I can’t help!” But oh, on the contrary....you can! And those actions of helping the one person close to you will more than likely have a ripple effect of aid. So I encourage you this week.... keep an eye out for the people next to you who may be hurting. Lend a listening ear. Spend time. Give what you can....because change always starts with us and effects one person at a time.
