This savory sauce is enhanced by the Taconic Distillery’s Bourbon Cream! We recommend using chicken thighs, but any cut of chicken will do! You can also use this sauce on pork, flank steak or even salmon, plus it is great to use when grilling due to its thicker consistency and bold flavor!
Difficulty Meter : Easy
Easily Coats : 12 Chicken Thighs
Ingredients:
1 Heaping Tablespoon dried minced and onion
1 Heaping Tablespoon Onion powder
1 Heaping Tablespoon Dark chili powder
1 Heaping Tablespoon Garlic powder
1 Heaping Tablespoon Southwest Chipotle seasoning (we love the one from Market Pantry/Target)
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon ancho chili powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
2 teaspoons organic sugar
1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup evoo
1/2 cup burbon cream
2 tablespoons basalmic vinegar
2 tablespoons straight bourbon whiskey (optional)
12 chicken thighs
Chefs Tip* - If you aren’t a fan of Bourbon flavor omit the 2 Tablespoons straight Bourbon Whisky.
In a mid-size bowl mix all spices, basalmic vinegar, olive oil, bourbon and bourbon cream. The consistency is a bit thicker than many barbecue sauces, but never fear it only aids in creating a succulent casing for your meat!
Once all ingredients are mixed, arrange your chicken in an oven safe pan.
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Baste chicken with 1/2 the amount of sauce. You can put chicken right into the oven or let marinate for 20 mins or even overnight.
Cook chicken for 45-50 minutes or until tender. Turn oven to a broil setting or a very high heat (500*). Add the rest of the sauce to coat each piece of chicken. Let broil for 5-10 minutes depending on your oven.
Enjoy alone or with your favorite sides. We did Polenta and roasted garden veggies!
Happy Eating!
